About the artist…

Ellen Z. Salov is a high school ceramics teacher, who lives and works in her home town of New Rochelle, NY. She earned a BS in Visual Arts from SUNY New Paltz, and a MS in Art Education from the College of New Rochelle. She has been teaching, learning and growing with her students since 2005. In her spare time, Ellen makes some artwork of her own.

Ellen’s artwork refers to ideas surrounding 'home’ and ‘belonging.’ She draws inspiration mostly from the coastal beauty of her parents' Croatian homeland, but also from her students, and the exciting, ever-changing, and always humbling nature of clay.
